The mantilla is a traditional Spanish garment worn for special events and celebrations, especially during the Holy Week. Here, on a pale gold tinted wedding cake, Sugar has created a cascading fondant version of the mantilla, topped with a hand crafted sugar "comb" painted in 24 karat gold, highlighted by garnet red sugar roses. Wedding cakes, as well as wedding gowns, should reflect the style and grace that personifies the bride. For this cake, we re-created the embroidery design found on her dress.
Atop a hand painted "Birchwood" fondant base, a four tiered Martha Stewart inspired confection decorated in tiny buttercream flowers stands tall on dark chocolate vine covered pillars. Graceful and timeless, this cake can be recreated in any number of floral designs and colors, emanating the love and spirit of the great outdoors.
