Created for a local Oscar winner, each space
depicts a specific time and accomplishment in
this mans life, as well as do the game pieces
(silver sports car, wine bottle, golden Oscar,
and Harley Davidson). What a way to take a
bite out of life! |

My
very favorite cakes to create are the "shoe"
cakes (not surprising if you could see my
closet). Here, edible Manolo Blahniks are
covered with tasty "bugle beads" and yummy
"pearls". The box, also cake, is filled with
plaid fondant "tissue paper". |

Coming from a fine art background, masterpiece
replicas like this one allow the cake to
become the "canvas" and the buttercream
frosting to be the
"paint". |

Much to the distress of my partner, pastry
chef Kirsten Soria, the birthday girl was so
thrilled with her "pagoda" cake that she
refused to cut it! As I tell many of our
clients who protest that the cakes are too
pretty to eat, they taste even better than
they look! |
